Herat City: Twenty-seven people have been arrested over allegedly attempting to smuggle heroin to India at the international airport in western Herat province, an official said on Tuesday.
Mohammad NasirNeknam, border police commander at the airport, told at a press conference in Herat City, the detainees were captured in seven separate incidents, trying to smuggle heroin to India.
He said the fresh incident happened on Tuesday involving a man who wanted to fly with 600 kilograms of heroin to India.
He named the detainee as Norul Haq, who wanted carry the drug against $3000 to India and had swallowed heroin capsules.
