Surat: While the central government has given a nod for the immigration checkpost and customs notified airport in Surat, the Gujarat government is yet to allot the immigration staff at Surat airport.
Last year, the Gujarat government had sent a letter to the director general of police (DGP) to allot 68
immigration staff members for Surat airport in the financial year 2018-19. The training and other process of the immigration staff was conducted in early 2018, but still the staff has not been posted at the airport.
Talking to TOI, airport director Sanjay Kumar Panigrahi said, “The immigration staff is yet to be posted at the airport. We have almost completed the facilities related to the international flight operation from Surat.”
Sources said the immigration staff was to be appointed in April-2018 and they were to be trained for about a month related to immigration process.
