Investigation points to illegal sale at duty-free shop at airport

Kochi: The preliminary investigation pointed to grave discrepancies, fabrications and illegal sale at the duty-free shop in the Thiruvananthapuram airport run by the Plus Max duty-free Private Limited, according to an affidavit filed by the Customs in the Kerala High Court on Friday.

The Customs said the investigation revealed huge differences in sale figures and in foreign currency collected and deposited.

It was also found repeated use of same passport numbers and that liquor was sold in excess of eligible allowance of 2 litres, besides manipulation of sale data using passenger manifest data.
