Man loses Rs 43,000 to false job promise

Chandigarh: Claiming to provide a job at the Chandigarh International Airport, an unidentified person duped a Mauli Jagran resident of Rs 43,000.
The complainant has been identified as Vinod Sharma of Mauli Jagran.
Vinod received a call from the fraudster saying he had been selected for a job in the ground services. The former was provided a fake job confirmation letter on a forged letterhead of the Airport Authority of India (AAI). The Mauli Jagran resident filed a complaint at the SSP window on Friday and has demanded an FIR in the case.
According to the complaint, the fraudster offered him a salary of Rs 3.60 lakh per annum which would be revised after six years on his performance. The conman told the complainant that the salary would be credited in his account on or before 5th of every month.
Vinod said that he was in search of a job and had uploaded his résumé on certain portals a few days ago. Following this, Vinod got a call from an unknown person who introduced himself as Abhimanyu Bansal and told him that he has been selected as ground staff at the Chandigarh International Airport.
The caller told him he must deposit Rs 2,100 for job ID card. The suspect also provided him a phone number and told him to pay through PhonePe app. Subsequently, Vinod deposited the said amount throughv the app. Later, the fraudster took his online entrance test and passed him in it. Then Vinod was asked to deposit Rs 7,900 for 45-day job training.
The money mongering didn’t end here and once again the conman told Vinod that he would be given three uniforms for which he must transfer Rs 13,900. He ensured Vinod that the amount was refundable. The demand only got bigger with the suspect asking for Rs 20,000 as a gate pass fee, saying the same would be refunded within 30 minutes of money transfer.
At last, the fraudster demanded Rs10,000 more for opening of new account stating that all the refunds will be done in that account. In all, Vinod transferred Rs43,000 through PhonePe app.
