New Delhi: The hassle of removing laptops, tablets and liquids from handbags for screening at airports may soon be a thing of the past. AERA, which fixes tariffs for big airports that handle over 15 lakh passengers a year, will link meeting of service standards to tariff determination and penalise laggard airports while rewarding ones where passengers can breeze through the various processes.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), agency in charge of security at Indian airports, is watching these trials closely and plans to test the technology here too and then hopefully use it at the busiest airports here.
