Telangana commissions study on regional air connectivity

Hyderabad: The state government has asked the Telangana State Aviation Academy to study and submit a report on regional air connectivity in the state within a month’s time.

The academy will submit the report on the aviation infrastructure in the state. Joshi asked Aviation Academy secretary SN Reddy to see that the report should suggest measures on how best the state could use the existing airstrips and the need for developing new airstrips.

According to official sources, the academy will identify the private and government air strips outside Hyderabad, and examine the length of the existing runways and the length required for new airstrips, if any. The study will also have details of land requirement for the development of airstrips or regional airports outside Hyderabad in the state. It will also include technical feasibility like wind velocity in the proposed airstrip areas. Against this backdrop, Aviation Academy is all set to purchase another aircraft at an estimated cost of `5 crore in addition to the two it has now.
