Vistara will have to wait some more to fly international

New Delhi: Vistara will have to wait a little longer to start its international services as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) wants the aviation ministry to first allocate flying rights to the Tata-Group promoted airline before the regulator approves their proposal for international flights.

Flying rights is mandatory for any airline to launch international flights, but there are none available for Vistara on routes (excluding Sri Lanka) it wants to launch flights to, as the government has allocated them to other Indian carriers. The carriers have, however, not used them in full.
Vistara, in a proposal to the aviation ministry, has said that it plans to connect Sri Lanka and Maldives from Delhi and Thailand from Delhi and Kolkata before October this year. In the second phase of international expansion that begins beyond October till the March of 2019, the airline plans to connect destinations in Bangladesh, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to Delhi and Singapore to Pune.
