Whistle-blower demands CBI probe in Ghatkopar chartered plane crash

Whistle-blower and lawyer-activist Yeshwanth Shenoy who has earlier filed a petition in Bombay High Court over the alleged unsafe movement of aircraft in the city on Wednesday demanded an inquiry by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Ghatkopar chartered plane crash that took lives of five.

Shenoy alleged that Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is responsible for the accident that took place last week. He also wrote to the DGCA aircraft saying that helicopters serviced by Indamer Aviation Private Limited should be grounded as it is the same agency that carried out repair and maintenance works of the crashed charter plane.

In a letter to DGCA, Shenoy said, "It is very clear that Indamer Aviation was willfully and deliberately releasing aircrafts/ helicopters to service with substandard work. The Ghatkopar crash is a testimony to the same. We do not know which all aircrafts/ helicopters that are operational are defective. I request to order grounding of all aircrafts/ helicopters services by Indamer Aviation and get them inspected by the original manufacturer to ensure none of them have any defects that could lead to loss of lives and property."
