Allow civilian flights from Halwara: NGO

Ludhiana: Baba Banda Singh Bahadur International Foundation Punjab on Thursday sent a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the district administration, demanding start of commercial flights from Halwara Air Force Station.
President of the foundation and senior Congress leader K K Bawa said, “We have sent a memorandum to PM Modi and demanded opening Halwara airport for commercial flights. The Sahnewal airport is still not well connected by air with rest of India as only a small capacity aircraft flies from Ludhiana to Delhi which too remains cancelled a lot of times.”
“If civilian and cargo flights are allowed to operate from Halwara, it will not only benefit travellers from the city and businessmen but also the NRIs who visit their relatives every year in large number to Ludhiana and other surrounding areas,” Bawa said.
