Chennai: The state government has informed the ministry of civil aviation about suitable sites for constructing a second airport for Chennai.
"The government has a few sites in mind and they have informed us. We are for a second airport for Chennai," minister of civil aviation Suresh Prabhu said.
The minister, on the sidelines of an interactive session of All India Exporters of Leather Footwear and Products on Saturday, also said the ministry was serious about building a second airport for the city and another terminal at the existing Chennai airport. "I had a discussion with the state last time and will take it forward," he said. He did not specify the site.
