Cocaine in handbag undetected at Ahmedabad airport

Ahmedabad: The special operation group (SOG) of city crime branch on Thursday registered another case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) against an Ivory Coast national, Zohou Alexis, after 29 more capsules filled with cocaine were found in his handbag, on Wednesday night.
ACP (SOG) B C Solanki said the capsules had been hidden in chocolates and kept in his handbag. Solanki said the seizure now totals 72 capsules with 1,450g of cocaine, worth Rs 2.17 crore.

Personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force had intercepted Alexis, who had got off a flight from Dubai at the Ahmedabad international airport and was about to board a flight to Mumbai, where he was to deliver the contraband. Alexis had ingested 43 capsules filled with cocaine, which were flushed out at Civil Hospital under medical supervision. This is the first case in Gujarat where an accused has been nabbed body-packing cocaine.
