Direct India flights on WA tourism agenda

The State Government and Perth Airport will launch a charm offensive in India next week to convince airlines to start direct flights to Perth.

Inbound Indian traffic is one of the fastest growing to Perth Airport but passengers typically travel through Singapore or Kuala Lumpur, adding many hours to the journey.

Tomorrow, a delegation of Tourism Minister Paul Papalia, Perth Airport chief executive Kevin Brown and Tourism WA’s new aviation adviser Andrew McEvoy will travel to New Delhi and Mumbai for meetings.

This is the first time a WA government has initiated talks with Indian airlines on establishing a direct route to Perth.
