IAF drops relief for landslip-hit

Dimapur: Air force helicopters on Saturday airdropped essential commodities in the landslide-affected Tening area of Peren district in Nagaland.

Sources said two helicopters under Eastern Air Command, loaded with essentials, took off from Dimapur airport in the morning but could airdrop the commodities only in the Tening area. They could not reach the other landslide-hit areas of the state due to inclement weather. Many places remained cut-off as roads remained blocked because of landslides.

Air force helicopters had tried to drop essential commodities on Friday as well but could not because of bad weather. The places where goods were to be airdropped included Tening and 36 Assam Rifles company camp in Peren district, Tobu in Mon district, Kiphire headquarters and Pungro in Kiphire district and Noklak and Noksen in Tuensang district.
