Indore: Airport likely to get 20 acre for Rs 26 crore sans lease rent, says Sumitra Mahajan

Indore: Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has said that annual lease rent issue for 20 acre to be offered to Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport is being resolved. The airport will now have to pay Rs 26 crore as land price. Chairing the maiden meeting of newly-constituted Airport Advisory Committee at the airport on Tuesday, Mahajan said that she has spoken to people concerned in Bhopal for deletion of clause regarding Rs 1.80 crore annual lease rent for 20 acre that will be transferred by the revenue department.

“Now, the airport administration will only have to pay land’s price,” she told other members of the committee, including Dilip Dev, Sumit Suri, Krishna Upadhyay, aviation expert Nagesh Namjoshi and airport director Aryama Sanyal.
Earlier, the state government had sought Rs 26 crore for the 20 acre land. It also wanted the airport to pay Rs 1.8 crore every year as lease rent.  Chairman of Airport Authority of India (AAI) Guruprashad Mohpatra had shot off a letter to Principal Secretary to the CM seeking exemption from lease rent.
