Nagpur native caught with Rs 32-lakh gold at airport

Mohali: Customs sleuths at the Chandigarh international airport here arrested a passenger, who landed here from Sharjah with 1,049-gram gold, worth around Rs 32 lakh, on Thursday.
The passenger, identified as Parkash Hiranand Choutani of Nagpur, had come by an Air India flight.
Sources said he had hidden the contraband in a belt-shaped pouch tied to his waist.
“He was having nine gold biscuits, each weighing around 116 gram, with him and was trying to cross the green channel but was intercepted,” said the sources.
