Passengers demand feeder buses to Hubballi Airport

Hubballi: About 13 flights are operating from the Hubballi airport to seven Indian destinations on a daily basis. The average number of passengers per day has increased from 518 in May to 834 in June. International flights are expected to start operations from Hubballi soon.
Yet, airport feeder bus services have not been started. Air passengers now depend on sub-urban buses or taxis to reach or depart from the airport.
Chamaraj Bangi, an advocate, told TOI that residents of Dharwad were struggling to reach the airport by public transport. “It takes at least two hours
to travel to the airport from Dharwad as we have to first go to the Hubballi Old Bus stand and then change buses. If we board long route buses that go
in the bypass, they won’t stop at the airport. So, we are paying huge sums to go to the airport by taxi,” he added.
He suggested that bus services be started from Dharwad new bus stand to the airport via Toll Naka, Kalghatgi Cross, Yerikoppa and Bypass highway.
