Patna airport check-in area to be extended

Patna: The problem of space crunch for flyers as well as aircraft at the Patna airport may soon be resolved “to some extent” with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at work to extend the check-in area in the existing terminal building and create parking space for two more aircraft before the onset of winter.
Airport director Rajender Singh Lahauria said on Thursday the check-in area was proposed to be extended towards the front of the terminal building by erecting a pre-fabricated structure. The extended area will have seating capacity for 200 flyers.

Sources said the seating capacity in the existing check- in area is not more than 1,000 even as the average daily footfall is around 7,000 passengers.

“The pre-fabricated structure will be placed towards the eastern side of the portico of the terminal building,” Lahauria told TOI.
