Pune: CISF steps up airport security, lens on SUVs

Pune:  Airport authorities and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) have stepped up security at the facility ahead of Independence Day and stopped visitors’ entry to the departure area.

CISF officials said additional personnel have been deployed to conduct random checks of vehicles, particularly SUVs, and keep a tab on the areas adjoining the civil localities.

“The Pune airport is in the ‘hyper-sensitive’ category and all security precautions are being taken,” a CISF official said. The paramilitary force has also deployed its personnel in civil dress. “The security has been beefed up and our men are working in coordination with all other stakeholders,” assistant inspector general (AIG) and CISF public relations officer Hemendra Singh said.
