SC allows MIHAN to retain land near airport

In a major respite to Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), the Supreme Court of India (SC) has allowed the MADC to retain possession of 2.77 hectare land adjoining existing wall of Nagpur airport in Mouza Shivangaon. This land (survey nos. 332/1, 332/4 and 334/1) is a part of land on which the new International Airport is to be built by MADC.
A division bench consisting of Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre and Justice Uday U Lalit, while issuing notice to respondents on a special leave petition (SLP) preferred by MADC, and protected its possession on the said land which is crucial for entire MIHAN project.
The MADC had approached the Supreme Court challenging various orders passed by the single judge of the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court, in a first appeal filed by the previous acquiring body.
