Turkmenistani woman caught by Customs at Delhi airport for smuggling gold

New Delhi: A Turkmenistani woman has been arrested by Customs officials for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold worth nearly Rs 27 lakh at the Delhi airport.

The accused was intercepted on arrival from Turkmenistan last Friday, an official statement issued today said.

“Her personal and baggage search resulted in the recovery of three chains of gold, collectively weighing 1 kg (market value Rs 27.09 lakh),” the Customs department said in the release.
