Bengaluru: Kempegowda International Airport (KIA)'s second runway, which is scheduled to be operational by late 2019, will be LED-powered.
It will be the first such runway in the country, said Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) on Wednesday.
With this facility, the third busiest airport in the country, is expected to have improved airside safety and efficiency along with and greater energy and cost gains.
"Powered by a private firm ADB SAFEGATE’s SafeLED airfield lighting (AGL), which is responsible for the design and supply of the AGL as well as Advanced Visual Docking Guidance Systems (A-VDGS), the company will provide its SafeLED lights, constant current regulators (CCRs) for power management, cables, lighting and control systems" said a BIAL spokesperson.
