Chaos at IGI after AI flight to UAE gets cancelled

New Delhi: There was chaos inside Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal-3 on Tuesday night after an Air India Express flight to Abu Dhabi was cancelled just an hour before its scheduled departure, forcing passengers to wait for nearly 13 hours at the airport.
Officials said the flight, scheduled to depart around 8.50pm on Tuesday night, eventually took off at 10.11am on Wednesday. Passengers alleged they had no proper information on when the alternative flight would take off. However, the airline said the passengers were offered hotel facilities until the alternative flight was arranged.
An Air India Express spokesperson said flight IX 115 had developed a technical snag and one of its parts needed to be replaced. “The part had to be flown from Trivandrum, and this took a lot of time. Meanwhile, the passengers were given food and refreshments. We even offered them hotel arrangements, but they refused to accept them,” said the spokesperson.
