Chennai: Wanderlusts in the city will not have to stretch their wallets too much to fly to the US or Europe, as airfares have become less expensive. Two days after Etihad Airways and IndiGo launched a low-fare sale on international routes, Jet Airways has also introduced low fares.
The fares, which were high due to demand by tourists and families returning abroad after holidays, has been brought down on most of the routes for travel in September, October and also during the peak travel season after November.
IndiGo and Etihad have direct flights to the Middle East while Jet Airways has direct flights to Europe.
The round trip fare on Chennai-Dubai route has come down to Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000 for travel next month, while it was more than Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000. A round trip from the city to Paris, which was priced Rs 45,000 and upwards, has dropped to Rs 32,000. The return fare is between Rs 59,000 and Rs 62,000, against the earlier Rs 65,000.
