Pune: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday assured that the proposed Purandar airport will be in place without specifying the deadline for the commencement of the project.
“Don’t worry, it (the airport) will come,” the chief minister said while replying to a TOI message about delay in the land acquisition process for the project. However, he did not give a time frame for the commencement of the work on the proposed airport.
Earlier, Fadnavis had hinted at a 2019 deadline for the airport work to start. But then as well, he had steered clear of giving any time frame considering that the land acquisition order was not given to the district collector.
With land acquisition orders yet to be issued, senior officials from the general administrative department (GAD) said a high-power committee will decide the course of the airport based on various parameters. “There has been no change in the site of the airport. Everything is on track,” GAD officials said, adding that there might have been some delay, but the airport will definitely come up at the very site.
