Air India says 200 of its 475 daily flights to be affected by runway repairs in Delhi, Mumbai

New Delhi: Air India has said as many as 200 out of its 475 daily flights will be disrupted by the runway repairs scheduled to be carried out in Delhi and Mumbai starting from later this month to March-end.
“AI is trying its best to minimise inconvenience to passengers despite limited resources. We are deploying Boeing 747 on Delhi-Mumbai route to fly more people. We will be unable to operate full load of Boeing 777 in Mumbai due to load penalty when less length runway is available,” said a senior AI official.
One of the three runways at Delhi’s IGI Airport will be shut from November 15 to 27, 2018. This will lead to IGIA handling less than 1,200 flights a day during that period, down from the average daily movement of over 1,300.
