Delhi and Dubai top hotspots for time-crunched Mumbai fliers

Mumbai may be the financial capital of the country, but when it comes to travel, Delhi and Dubai have been the most preferred destination. Data provided by the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) has revealed that of the total domestic and international passenger traffic to and from Mumbai airport between April 2018 and August 2018, maximum fliers flew between the Mumbai-Dubai and Mumbai-Delhi sectors.

As per the data, out of total 6.08 million international passengers that flew in and out of Mumbai Airport between April 2018 and August 2018, a majority of them travelled to Dubai followed by London, Singapore, Bangkok and Abu Dhabi. The Dubai-bound traffic share stood at 1.02 million. In case of domestic travel, nearly 14.65 million passengers flew to and from Mumbai Airport between the same period, maximum travelled to Delhi followed by Bengaluru, Goa, Hyderabad and Chennai.
With cheap airfares and easy travel, looks like the travel bug has smitten all and sundry. Sharat Dhall, chief operating officer at Yatra.com said that Mumbai is one of the busiest airports in India. “Travellers from Mumbai have chosen Delhi and Dubai as the most popular destinations. The travel to Delhi seems to be mostly driven by business travellers since Mumbai is the financial hub,” Dhall said.
