Trichy: A Dubai-bound Air India Express plane was grounded at Trichy International Airport on Wednesday following a technical snag.
Air India Express flight AXB611, which arrived here at 12.05am on Wednesday, was to depart from here at 1am. However, the Boeing B737-800 aircraft developed a technical snag before take-off.
All the 82 passengers onboard were asked to deplane and wait at the airport.
Sixty out of the 82 passengers were accommodated in a Sharjah-bound Air India Express flight which took off from here at 3.20am.
When the attempt made by a technical team at the airport to rectify the snag went in vain, the officials alerted the regional office in Chennai.
A senior Air India Express official said a technical team would arrive here and fix the fault by 3pm.
