Goa airport slips up on parking slips again

Panaji: Complaints of the parking contractor at the Goa International Airport, Dabolim, indulging in fraudulent practices have surfaced yet again. Citizens had, in the past, complained that the contractor had been issuing parking slips without time stamps at the arrival and departure lanes.
Absence of a time stamp allows the contractor to force private vehicle owners to pay a fine of Rs 85 for exceeding the permitted five minutes.

The latest person to have noticed something was not right with the ticket being issued was the chairman of the National Council for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Manguirish Pai Raikar.

"I went to the airport at around 5.30am to drop off a friend. The token issued at the airport entrance had no time mentioned," Raikar said. "At the exit, I gave the token but I had the presence of mind to notice that there was no time mentioned on it."

Raikar added that the attendant demanded payment for exceeding the stipulated five minutes.
