Multinational Airport to be constructed near Chennai: Palaniswami

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami on Sunday announced that a  multinational airport, having international standards, will be constructed near Chennai.
Addressing the MGR Centenary celebrations here, he said keeping in mind the development of industries, and increase in tourists, the present Chennai
airport will reach the maximum level of handling passengers and goods by 2024. Hence, the government will construct a new multinational airport, Mr Palaniswami added. He said Chennai has become an industrial hub of the country and international investors are giving it the first preference to start their industries here. He said the state government has recommended the Union government that Central Railway station should be named after MGR.
He said Koyembedu bus terminus in Chennai will be named after MGR and in future, 'We will not see people living in huts in the city'.
