The Ministry of Civil Aviation on Monday said that it will review the move of airlines to charge for web check-in after passengers took to social media platform Twitter to complain against the carriers' decision.
The ministry said that it has noted that airlines are now charging for web check-in for all seats.
"We are reviewing these fees to see whether they fall within the unbundled pricing framework," the aviation ministry said in a response to a passenger's tweet complaining about IndiGo.
IndiGo late Sunday told its passengers that as per its revised policy, all seats will be chargeable for web check-in. If passengers want to book seats for free, then they can check-in at the airport.
"Seats will be assigned as per the availability," IndiGo added.
Even SpiceJet's booking website showed that a passenger is required to pay a minimum amount of Rs 99 for booking seat before hand while making ticket reservation.
