DTDC aims at business expansion keeping in mind next e-commerce wave from China

Mangaluru: Aiming to bolster its last mile capabilities in South India and cash in on the booming e-commerce market, Bengaluru based express parcel provider DTDC on Friday two offices with total area of 4,700 sq ft. While the larger 4,000 sq ft office is at Pai Compound near Urwa market, smaller office space is located at Bhaskar Complex near Mahavir (Pumpwell) Circle. Subhasish Chakraborty, chairman and managing director, DTDC opened these facilities.

Interacting with media post inauguration of office space at Urwa Market, Subhasish said the company will open 75 more offices in the region in next two-years. Noting that Mangaluru is strategically located with seaport, airport and railway head just as Mumbai and Chennai, he said this will aid the company to reach out to its overseas destinations including USA, Europe and the Middle East with ease. The new office will also aid our domestic operations, he said.

Noting that 30% of DTDCs business is overseas and growing by 22% each year, Subhasish said the company is looking to tap in to the next wave of e-commerce growth that India is expecting with the likes of Alibaba, JD.Com expected to launch their India operations soon. “We are already serving the existing e-commerce players such as Amazon, Flipkart and handled nearly 60000 items per day for Flipkart during the recent Big Billion Day sale,” he said.
