Flyer fumes as airline cancels flight, books him on another

Pune:Praneet Kumar, a cyber security consultant, was in for a rude shock on Friday after realizing that his 5am IndiGo flight to Delhi was cancelled without prior intimation and he was instead given the boarding pass for a 7am flight.
Kumar reached the airport at 3.45am, following which he did the check-in and also got the boarding pass. “Having completed all the formalities, I headed to have some beverage and snacks at the airport. Thereafter, I checked one of the flight information display screens (FIDS) at the airport, which showed that the flight (6E863) was on the right time,” Kumar said.

The problem began after Kumar headed to board the flight. “Once I reached near the boarding gate, I was told that the flight was cancelled,” Kumar said, adding, “This is when I checked my boarding pass and realized that I was put on another flight scheduled to take off at 7am.”

Puzzled by the situation, Kumar once again checked the FIDS and found that his “cancelled” flight was on time with its boarding gate number was flashing on the screen. When I pointed about the FIDS and the information displayed, the airline employees kept on saying that the FIDS were not their responsibility. “Finally, I had to board the 7am flight since I had no option left,” he said, adding, “How can the airline cancel the flight and not inform its flyers about it? How can they put me on another flight without seeking my permission?"
