Fraudster posing as RGIA worker booked

Hyderabad: A conman who claimed to be an RGIA employee was booked for collecting Rs 11 lakh from a person on the pretext that he would arrange the gold seized by customs authorities at a cheaper price.
Airport police said that the victim, in his complaint, stated that he had known the accused from past several months. The accused had claimed that he was a government employee working in RGIA and knew officials in customs department.
The victim's sister was scheduled to get married for whom he wanted to purchase gold and contacted the accused. The victim gave Rs 11 lakhs to the accused, who said that it would take some time for him to hand over the gold. To gain the confidence of the victim, the accused also issued an invoice.
