Jet Airways staff likely to get remaining salary dues next month

New Delhi: Crisis-hit carrier Jet Airways is likely to pay 25 per cent pending September salaries to senior staff by next month, said an internal source familiar with the decision.

Speaking to business daily ET, a source said the airline is expected to reveal a revised payment schedule soon. This indicates that delays in paying salary may last longer than some of the staff members expected.

The Naresh Goyal-promoted airline has been going through severe financial crunch since last year. It has suffered three consecutive quarterly losses, and is currently trying hard to make its turnaround planaimed at reducing operational costsa success.

On Monday, a source said the airline had fired 16 more employees from its Kochi and Hyderabad offices, in addition to the 20 staffers who were asked to leave a month ago.

The airline had also reportedly asked 15 managerial-level employees from various departments, including engineering, security and sales, to exit the company.

The present situation is turning out to be a bitter experience for the airline staff and many have already protested openly against the board members over delayed salaries.
