Kannur: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will formally inaugurate Kannur International Airport on December 9. It has been finalized that the inaugural flight, an Air India Express, will take off to Abu Dhabi in the morning.
According to KIAL officials, the chief minister will flag off the inaugural flight at 10 am. The return flight from Abu Dhabi will reach the airport in the night.
The chief minister, who visited the airport on Sunday, reviewed the progress of the work ahead of the inauguration. He was also accompanied by ministers EP Jayarajan PK Shailaja, Ramachandran Kadannappally and senior officials from the district. KIAL managing director V Thulasidas welcomed the dignitaries.
The chief minister visited all parts of the airport, including the air traffic control room, and directly reviewed the progress. Later he held an official meeting with respect to the inauguration.
High level police officials, airport management representatives also district collector Mir Muhammed Ali and district police chief G Siva Vikram attended the meeting.
