PM Modi having sleepless nights, Dassault CEO lying to protect him: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi has accused CEO of Dassault Aviation Éric Trappier of lying on the Rafale deal. Gandhi on Friday alleged that Dassault made Anil Ambani's Reliance Defence as its offset partner after purchasing land for Ambani.

Dassault Aviation had recently stated that it selected Reliance Defence over Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) because it had land near an airport in Nagpur. Rubbishing this, Rahul Gandhi said Ambani's firm was preferred despite the fact that HAL had more land.
"The Dassault CEO had said the reason HAL wasn't given the contract was because Anil Ambani had land. Now it turns out that the land that Anil Ambani had was purchased by money given by Dassault," Gandhi said.

He reiterated his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said the Rafale deal is an open and shut case. "It was a partnership between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Anil Ambani," he said.Gandhi said the PM is having "sleepless nights" fearing action if a probe was conducted into the Rafale deal. He also alleged that CBI chief Alok Verma was removed as he wanted to investigate the deal.
Mounting his attack on the PM, he said, "If an inquiry starts on this, Mr Modi is not going to survive it. Guaranteed. One, because of corruption. Two, because it's very clear who the decision maker was...It was Narendra Modi and it was a deal done by Narendra Modi to give Anil Ambani Rs 30000 crore."
