Ahmedabad: National and international delegates coming to Ahmedabad to attend the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2019 will see the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in an entirely new avatar. Over the past couple of months, Airports Authority of India (AAI) has initiated a slew of measures to renovate the airport and add facilities for passengers.
One of the most recent additions at the city airport is a posh business lounge at the domestic terminal i.e. Terminal-1. “The lounge can accommodate some 108 persons. Utmost comfort of passengers will be ensured while at the lounge which has multiple charging points, WiFi connectivity, a multi-cuisine menu and shower facilities too,” said Manoj Gangal, director, SVPI airport.
The launch of the business lounge comes soon after a similar lounge was launched at the international terminal of the SVPI airport i.e. Terminal-2. Apart from the two lounges, AAI officials said that the washrooms at the SVPI airport have also been completely upgraded with modern technology and design. “We have also redone the aesthetics of the airport to give it a local flavour. Since Ahmedabad has been conferred upon with the World Heritage City tag, the décor has been done based on the heritage theme. On these lines, a replica of the Teen Darwaza has also been erected at the Terminal-1, just before the security check point,” Gangal further explained.
