Kozhikode: Drawing flak from various quarters for not resuming the operation of its wide-bodied aircraft, Air India will now reconduct the compatibility study and safety assessment at the Calicut airport on December 20.
It will assess the compatibility for operation of all types of wide-bodied aircraft in its fleet.
Air India had earlier carried out a safety assessment and compatibility study in August to resume the operation of wide-bodied aircraft under Code E, and had also submitted a report to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in this regard. However, the DGCA was dissatisfied with the study.
A high-level technical team led by Airports Authority of India official P. Balachandran will visit the airport on Thursday to conduct the final round of safety assessment and compatibility study, M.K. Raghavan, MP, said.
