“SVPI Airport is a profit-making entity and close to 10 million passengers have been handled successfully by the AAI staff. When the operations are being handled in a smooth manner and the airport is getting rewarded for its progress and upgradation, there is no point in privatising the airport. We will continue holding protests during the lunch hour against privatisation everyday till December 10,” said Amol Shirke, branch president, AAEU, Ahmedabad.

AAEU members submitted a memorandum to the AAI officials in Ahmedabad. According to data provided by AAEU, the SVPI Airport made an approximate profit of Rs 138.7 crore in the financial year 2017-18. Similarly, the city airport’s approximate profit in the current financial year 2018-19 stood at Rs 80.2 crore till September 30.
