Kannur: BJP would boycott the inauguration of Kannur International Airport, scheduled on Sunday, in view of the party decision to boycott all programmes attended by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other ministers, said the party leadership.
BJP decided to boycott the CM and other ministers because of their failure in providing facilities to Sabarimala pilgrims, said the party leaders, who also alleged that the police are still hunting the pilgrims.
Party state president P S Sreedharan Pillai would also boycott the programme, said party state cell coordinator K Ranjith. The party would also inform the central leadership and others concerned about the decision, as the chief minister and Union minister for civil aviation Suresh Prabhu would be jointly commissioning the airport. However, they refused to comment if the Union minister, who is from the BJP, would boycott the function
