Vasco: South Goa district collector Dr Tariq Thomas has allotted slots for 15 yellow black taxi cabs at Dabolim airport, while the rest of the taxis have been provided alternate parking space at the slipway near the grade separator.
An inspection was fixed at Dabolim airport on Saturday afternoon by Dr Thomas in order to provide parking space for yellow black taxi cabs, those who are operating under United Taximen Union at Dabolim airport.
The Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha, superintendent of police South Arvind Gawas, deputy superintendent of police Vasco Sunita Sawant, airport director Bhupesh Negi, Dabolim airport PI Shailesh Narvekar, police sub-inspector Razashad Sheikh attached to Dabolim airport traffic cell, UTU president Mahesh Petkar and others were present at the inspection.
Speaking to this daily, Dr Thomas said, “Basically we are trying to identify alternate location for parking for the yellow black taxi cabs at least from the airport in order to reduce congestion. We have surveyed the site and have put forth the proposal before the taxi owners. Let us see how the proposal works in the coming week.”
