Chennai: Taking a morning flight to Delhi and other northern cities may not be advisable in the coming weeks as passengers are getting held up at airports due to flight delays and disruptions caused by fog.
On Tuesday, eight arrivals from Delhi and nine departures from Chennai to Delhi were delayed at the city airport after the season's first severe fog at the national capital disrupted flights in the Delhi airport. Departures were suspended for almost two hours from 7.15am at the Delhi airport on Tuesday causing delays and diversions. A fog in Bengaluru too affected flights between the Karnataka capital and Chennai.
Its impact was felt throughout the day in Chennai because planes held up in Delhi caused delays in subsequent schedules for the day at other airports. More than 30 flights to different domestic destinations such as Bengaluru, Indore, Vijayawada, Coimbatore, Patna, Pune and others suffered a delay of more than an hour as schedules went awry at other airports creating congestion.
