Odisha CM for direct flights between Bhubaneswar and Surat

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to help over lakhs of Odia people living in Surat in Gujarat, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today urged the Central government to introduce direct flight between Bhubaneswar and Surat.

Besides, the CM also requested the Centre to run two daily trains between Berhampur and Surat.
Patnaik in a letter to Union Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu said a large number of Odia  people have settled in Surat and engaged in various spheres of trade, commerce and industry.
He said, at present, Odia people are facing a lot of difficulties as there is no direct air connectivity between Bhubaneswar and Surat.
“Air connectivity between Bhubaneswar and Surat will not only cater to the requirement of the people from Odisha residing in Surat but would also increase the tourist inflow to both the places,” Naveen wrote in the letter.

The CM urged the Union Minister to impress upon Air India and other private airlines to introduce flights between these two cities.
