Kochi: A mobile phone that was stolen from a passenger at Cial could be retrieved thanks to the alertness of the airport staff who tracked the thief using CCTV cameras footages.
On Saturday about 12pm, the duty international terminal manager received a mobile phone missing complaint from Muvattupuzha resident Shaji Paul who had just landed by Srilankan Airways. The terminal manager informed the CISF’s CCTV in-charge about the matter, while Paul was advised to make a police complaint.
The CCTV duty personnel then checked the footage to track the movement of the complainant from the aero bridge through the arrival pier area, Immigration and Customs. They found that the mobile phone was misplaced somewhere at the arrival city side canopy area (in the seating area adjacent to pillar No. A-10). On analysing the footage, it was found that a group of visitors reached the same spot to receive some passengers who had arrived and one person from the group picked the mobile phone from the seat there and put it in his pocket. Later the group left the airport in a vehicle.
