Amritsar: The Amritsar Customs Department recovered 499.9 grams of gold worth Rs 16.17 lakh from a passenger at Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport today. He had concealed gold inside his rectum.
Customs Commissioner Dipak Kumar Gupta said a passenger coming from Kuala Lumpur via Air Asia flight was intercepted by the air intelligence unit as his moves appeared to be suspicious.
“On search, it was found that the accused had hidden gold biscuits wrapped in a black plastic film inside his rectum,” he added.
The Customs Department has not disclosed the identity of the accused, but seized the gold under provisions of the Customs Act, 1962.
