Shamshabad airport cruising high

Hyderabad: To cater to the ever increasing demands of air passengers for better connectivity to various parts of the country and abroad, in the last one-year or so the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad has added several flights connecting the State capital to tier-2 and tier-3 urban centres in the country.

In the last 20 months, RGIA has augmented its connectivity to various destinations including Trivandrum, Kadapa, Nanded, Patna, Surat, Guwahati, Ranchi, Shirdi, Puducherry, Port Blair, Amritsar, Calicut, Udaipur, Hubli and Vadodara. To connect passengers to maximum number of destinations across the globe, on an average, one new destination is being added every month to the network. The authorities of RGIA has even managed connect flights to hill stations such as Imphal and Dehradun.
Considered to be among the busiest airports in the country, in the last few years, RGIA has connected Hyderabad to 66 destinations including 18 international and 48 domestic destinations, officials said.

According to a spokesperson from GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (GHIAL), in line with the preference of passengers and demand from airport catchment area of RGIA, airlines constantly keep evaluating new international and domestic destinations from and to Hyderabad.
