3 flights diverted to Chennai due to fog at Kempegowda International Airport, 50 flights affected

Bengaluru: Bad weather in Bengaluru forced at least three flights to be diverted to Chennai on Sunday morning. Two IndiGo flights and an Air India flight had to be diverted to Chennai airport earlier today due to fog at the runways at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Karnataka’s Bengaluru. Authorities said that at least 50 flights were affected due to the thick fog at the airport.

Among the flights that were diverted to Chennai were a Singapore-Bengaluru flight and a Goa-Bengaluru flight, ANI reported. “Due to poor visibility at #Bengaluru airport, flight departures and arrivals are affected. Do check your flight status before you leave for the airport,” IndiGo tweeted on Sunday.

Flights operations at the KIA were affected on Thursday as well, after 54 flights were delayed due to fog, resulting in hundreds of passengers getting stranded. 36 flights scheduled for departure and 17 flights due for arrival were delayed owing to dense fog at Bengaluru. On Friday, several airlines had issued advisories to their passengers warning them of delay in flight service due to fog at Delhi and Bengaluru.
