580 grams of gold seized at airport

Vasco: The Customs officers of Goa Customs seized 580 grams of gold from an Air India flight.
The team headed by Dr Raghavendra P, Deputy Commissioner of Customs, N G Patel Assistant Commissioner of Customs, under the supervision of T R Gajalakshmi, Additional Commissioner of Customs, Goa, rummaged the aircraft after receiving intelligence. The team recovered five gold bars all jointly weighing 580 grams valued at Rs 17 lakh.
The gold was concealed inside a show piece by an international passenger. A domestic passenger bound for Bangalore was also detained as he was supposed to receive the gold in the aircraft. The gold was seized under the Customs Act, 1962.
