AAI official caught accepting bribe of Rs 30,000 at Surat airport

Surat: Anti-corruption sleuths caught the joint general manager (engineering and civil), Airports Authority of India (AAI) at Surat airport on Thursday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a contractor. The accused had demanded commission for clearing a bill of annual maintenance contract of the complainant at Surat airport.

The ACB trap created waves as the accused officer was nabbed 12 days before the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit at Surat airport to officially launch international air connectivity from the Diamond city.


Anti corruption bureau (ACB) officials nabbed Radha Raman Gupta, a class I officer of AAI, for allegedly accepting bribe from the complainant. The accused was nabbed accepting bribe in his office at Surat airport.

The accused had demanded two per cent of the total bill of Rs 15 lakh from the complainant. The complainant had put-up bill for completion of annual maintenance work and the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 for clearing it. Following repetitive demand for the bribe money, the complainant approached ACB.
