Air connectivity with Udaipur, Jodhpur soon

Aurangabad: The city will be connected through air to Udaipur, Jodhpur route in the third phase of regional connectivity scheme Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik.

Aurangabad will also get an Air Vistara flight to New Delhi in March, airport director D G Salve told TOI on Saturday.

On August 21, TOI had published about the possibility of the resumption of flight to Udaipur and other connections that would prove a boon for tourism and industry of Aurangabad.

Salve said that Aurangabad will get Udaipur flight, which will be further connected to Jodhpur under UDAN and another flight to Delhi. “Both these flights will be operational in March. Air Vistara will run Delhi flight, Jet Airways will run flight to Udaipur,” he said.

Currently, the city has air connectivity to Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad. These flights are operated by Air India, Jet Airways and Trujet. Several years ago, Aurangabad was connected to Udaipur but the flight was terminated.

Chamber of Marathwada for Industries and Agriculture (CMIA), Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) have been pursuing the civil aviation ministry for better air connectivity to the city.
On his visit to the city in April 2018, civil aviation minister Suresh Prabhu had said that the poor connectivity to and from Aurangabad is impacting local tourism.
